WHO FOUNDED ZEOFILL?
- BRIAN PIERCE THE FOUNDER OF ZEOFILL HAD INSTALLED ZEOLITE IN SYNTHETIC TURF SINCE 2001. HE HAS BEEN DRINKING ZEOFILL ZEOLITE SINCE 2008 WHEN HE WAS INTRODUCED TO KMI ZEOLITE (THE PUREST ZEOLITE IN THE WORLD). BEFORE PURCHASING PRODUCT AT KMI, BRIAN HAD USED EVERY ZEOLITE FOR HIS TURF PROJECTS FROM EVERY MINE IN THE WESTERN REGION OF THE USA. HE HAS HAD SEVERAL ISSUES WITH THESE OTHER ZEOLITES IN THE PAST CAUSING TURF WARRANTY ISSUES UNTIL HE STUMBLED ONTO KMI ZEOLITE. "KMI IS THE ONLY ZEOLITE MINE WHICH HAS WORKED 100% WITHOUT FAIL" HE SAID. HE MARKETED ZEOFILL IN 2008 AND HAS NEVER HAD A TURF WARRANTY ISSUE. BRIAN AND THE PRESIDENT OF KMI ZEOLITE - CONRAD HAVE WORKED HAND IN HAND TO PROVIDE THE BEST ZEOLITE POSSIBLE FOR USE IN SYNTHETIC TURF. THEY HAVE TESTED DIFFERENT MESH SIZES TO PROVIDE A BETTER INSTALLATION EXPERIENCE. 


HOW SAFE IS ZEOFILL?

ARE PALLETS NEEDED WITH THE TOTE BAGS / SUPER SACKS?
Pallets not required on flat bed trailers. If you are using a box van trailer, there will be a $8.50 per pallet charge for plain wood pallets. If your country requires pressure treated or plastic pallets, then this will need to quoted. 

WHAT IS THE SIZE OF THE ZEOFILL GRANULE AND WHY USE ZEOFILL INSTEAD OF ANY ZEOLITE PRODUCT?
12 X 20 mesh. We have strategically made these granules this size to provide the longest lifespan with synthetic turf and to reduce zeodust particles. We triple screen our ZeoFill and provide a stringent QC protocol to monitor and inspect material coming out of the plant. We continue to provide all necessary regulated documents needed for continued state / county safety requirements. 

Competitors pricing may be less expensive due not only are they a lesser quality zeolite and/or their zeolite may or may not last in your turf project. Some zeolite mines have too soft or too hard Mohs hardness. Most use a 14 X 40 mesh which is a smaller granule which will not last in your synthetic turf project. Only ZeoFill has the right consistency to last in your turf.  


DOES ZEOFILL WORK BETTER WITH CERTAIN TYPES OF SYNTHETIC TURF, AND IF SO WHICH ONE?
- Yes. ZeoFill works best with a dense carpet and pad underlayment. We have developed a system with LA Parks and Astroturf that have build a specific carpet to house and preform at FIFA 2 level pitches. Attached is the product cut sheet. However, we have used the product in standard turf system as well. Our best results have been seen in the denser turf system. We are not specific to Astroturf, they have just done the most development with the turf and ZeoFill together at this point.

DOES ZEOFILL REQUIRE A SAND INFILL BEFORE IT?
- No. We have done a project that utilizes both and we recommend the sand on bottom and ZeoFill on top to obtain the cooling effects.

CAN ZEOFILL BE USED AS THE FIRST INFILL LAYER, AND THEN HAVE SOIL WITH GRASS SEEDS TO GERMINATE ON TOP OF IT TO GIVE A HYBRID PITCH?
- Zeofill is used as soil amendment, your process of the installation would depend on the soil conditions its being mixed into.

HOW BEST TO MAINTAIN A PITCH WITH ZEOFILL AND HOW BEST TO MAINTAIN A HYBRID PITCH WITH ZEOFILL & SOIL?
- Both surfaces are the same maintenance as they are now. Adding, ZeoFill does not change your process.

HAVE YOU SEEN OR GOT ANY EXPERIENCE OF SUCH RETRO FILL SOLUTIONS WHERE THE OLD PITCH WAS KEPT BUT THE INFILL WAS CHANGED FROM RUBBER TO ZEOFILL? 
- We have done the removal process many times on older pitches. The issue is age of the turf that controls the process. Most fields over 5-6 years old the fibers are to broken down to get the infill back in once removed. The other concern for replacing the rubber is that you have to ensure you have an underlying pad beneath the turf to install ZeoFill back into the existing turf system. The ZeoFill is a wonderful product for infill, but does not offer shock absorption as does rubber, so the pad being below the turf is crucial and controls the process of moving forward. It maybe more cost effective to remove and replace and invest the removal process monies toward new turf that contains no rubber. Going back to natural grass is done very rarely and cost more money than replacing the turf with proper system to ensure no rubber and safety.

All Weather Sport Fields that utilize crumb rubber and silica sand started to be used since 1996.  Today there are hundreds of fields across the United States.  Since 1996 players and owners have had growing concerns with the infill systems that are on the market today.  The concerns weather true or not range from; high surface temperatures, crumb rubber containing chemicals (which has not been proven), bacteria, MRSA, pungent odor’s, abrasiveness of the surface, Prop 65 use of Silica Sand and players inhaling dust from silica sand,  Some artificial grass infill options that are being used today to get away from the traditional infill are Organic’s, Envirofill, Copper slag, TPE, TPV, Flexsand, Recycled Infill Materials.  However owners have found these products to be very expensive to the project and some of them require a major amount of maintenance and water overtime.

Solution: A product named ZeoFill® born in 2008 made out of a natural organic resource from the earth. It is different than any other infill because ZeoFill® is a negatively charged honey-combed molecular structure which absorbs the water like a magnet and holds it for slow release to cool the surface temperatures.  You can use your existing irrigation to water the field before practice and not have the humidity raise dramatically as it does today on older fields.  The surface will stay cool for much longer periods of time.  

One of the many health benefits that ZeoFill® provides is the Infill will pull any gases towards itself and hold it in it's cavity. Also, when rainwater flows through the granule, it captures any negative toxins gases from rubber (if any) before traveling to waste water collection tanks virtually cleaning the water. 

The nicest part of ZeoFill® when pertaining to sport field application is that you are not reinventing the wheel so to speak.  The difference in using ZeoFill® over silica sand is you gain the benefits of a cooler surface, less pungent rubber smell, no harmful silica sand dust which increase chances of silicosis, collection of bacteria from the surface and helps clean waste water run-off. 

Your project budget is not being taxed, your maintenance is not changing, your watering is not increasing everything you do today or plan on doing when building a new field all remains the same. 

PURITY

Compared to other zeolite products found in the USA, ZeoFill has the purest clinoptilolite zeolite to avoid possible issues with drainage or even damage to the turf fibers. Harmful elements of the environment in other zeolites contain metals that could contain volcanic glass, lead or even quartz which contains crystalline free silica. ZeoFill stands for quality and is the safest zeolite for artificial grass infill. 

NOTE: ZeoFill was spec'd out on a sports field in 2015 and the purchasing agent bought another zeolite brand with quartz which has recently caused issues with drainage. Make sure your purchasing agent for your company realizes there is a major difference between our zeolite and other cheaper brands to avoid a costly mistake. 


DURABILITY IN FIELD APPLICATION

Purity is not the only benefit of ZeoFill. Performance testing has been done in Dalton GA for durability in field applications. We have established an 8 (eight) year limited warranty on ZeoFill due to the correct Mohs hardness of ZeoFill. Other similar products don't compare. ZeoFill is an angular infill but not hard enough to tear turf fibers. 

December 1, 2015 - 3rd party testing proves no swelling DURABILITY of ZeoFilll in freezing temperatures in sports fields applications. 
DRAINAGE

ZeoFill is a molecular structure which allows liquid to drain through itself slowly after saturation. 
We don't have the harmful angular elements of the environment restricting water from flowing through 
ZeoFill like other zeolites.

ASTM F355 & ASTM 1936-­10 with Deltec Field Tester Results using ZeoFill on the sports fields. 

​The test results are per FIFA/STC Field Testing Protocol.  Field tests were completed after the field has been installed with Ultra-base system. The testing is done to compare the synthetic turf system performance to a natural grass field. The test report  shows that the ZeoFill and Astroturf system tested at the highest level of the FiFA/STC parameters, meaning the field is an extremely high preforming field.

The benefit for ZeoFill in this test is that is shows a field constructed with a turf system designed to incorporate the organic mineral infill, can and does preform as well if not better than the crumb rubber and silica sand system. The nice part of the ZeoFill system is that it does not use the crumb rubber and allows for owners to build a field that still preforms the same as natural grass and better than crumb rubber and sand. 

ZeoFill as show in the testing can be utilized as the only infill product in the turf system or can be added to TPE, EPDM, Organic, Crumb Rubber, Sand or any infill that is on the market today. The ZeoFill brings all the benefits of the product to the turf system to enhance the performance of the other infill's. The other benefit is that eliminating silica sand from the system takes out the concern of prop 65 from your field and helps to cool the turf fibers, in addition the sizing of the product helps fill space in the turf system so you can achieve more in infill depth and pay less in price. This is extremely important when you are starting to consider other infill products that can cost over a $1.00 per pound.

NOTE:  Zeolite is under attack by companies who use rubber in their turf. Un-true statements have been sent stating our product doesn't drain or last in the fields. The statement from one such company used to purchase a much smaller granule for landscape applications and had placed the smaller granule in a sports facility. Longevity Testing which had been done by 3rd Party Testing facility shows 100,000 revolutions which states our zeolite will last up to 10 years in a sport field application.

Field builder strives for safety

Gilmer County (GA) High School became the first school in the Southeast to play on the AstroTurf Golden Series synthetic turf system. After much deliberation over what synthetic turf product would best suit their needs, the Bobcats, nestled in the North Georgia Mountains, chose a high-density, short length fiber pad and ZeoFill Premium Zeolite infill turf system, commonly referred to as DT32, Gilmer County embarked on their journey to revolutionize their field before graduation.

With California leading the way in new synthetic turf technology. AstroTurf invested in a new alternative infill design for Los Angeles Recreation and Parks that has now been installed across the nation at high schools, municipalities and Division I fields. Driving the product was a desire to create consistency in safety utilizing a pad, a “no fly-out” infill system, and high durability with lots of fiber that had already been proven in the field over decades with lowering field temperatures. Simply stated by Jimmy Newsome of LA Recreation and Parks, “We had a table full of turf samples. After reviewing the products one by one and eliminating the ones that did not fit our needs, we had an empty table.” This drove the city to develop its own product alongside AstroTurf. Since that moment, AstroTurf has installed over 4 million square feet nationally.

The Brock SP15 pad was installed over the stone base followed by the Golden Series DT32 system; in another industry first, Gilmer’s end zone lettering and football numbers were prefabbed in a climate controlled warehouse facility before the carpet even arrived for installation. A typical field has 398 inlays plus logos and end zone lettering. By cutting these with a robotic water jet, every one is guaranteed to be the most crisp. Gilmer’s prefabbed field meant the most precise installation, no rain complications and the field was ready on time for graduation. The last step of field construction, 1.5 pounds of sand per square foot was incorporated into the synthetic turf system as a ballast before the topping of the cake ZeoFill was groomed into place.

The Golden Series turf replaces rubber infill with ZeoFill, a brand of Zeolite. ZeoFill is an all-natural mineral, able to absorb 81% of its weight in water and release it slowly to create an evapotranspiration effect, thereby cooling the field.
